Abstract Aims Use of Gastrograffin (GG) radio-opaque contrast has been documented in the management adhesional small bowel obstruction. It is not widely used other causes The aim this study was to assess effectiveness GG use non-adhesive obstructions. Methods A retrospective review patients who had administered following CT confirmed obstruction (SBO) over 2-year period conducted. Demographics, cause SBO and outcomes were recorded. primary outcome resolution with GG. Results 80 received for radiologically mean age 62.7 years +/- 14.64 (SD) M:F ratio 1:1. included adhesions (n = 37, 46%), hernias 17, 21%), progression known cancer 3, 4%). 18% 15) no clear on CT.
